Largest Roadkiller Race Turnout of the Year

Eleven Roadkillers laced up their shoes for the Jim Payne Blue Ribbon 5K Run for the Kids, last Saturday evening in 80 degree temperatures. The race was held in historic downtown Sanford, Fla.

Weather was the story of the race on a sweltering, sunny evening. The race was advertised as a "sunset" run. I guess they were referring to the sun sitting low in the sky - directly in your face - as you completed the final mile heading directly Westward. Despite the warm temperatures, Roadlkiller results were impressive. Six Roadkillers placed first in their age group, including three who placed in the top 10 overall. Danny Fritz gave us all a 1:00 minute allowance for the heat, which means we probably all just PR'd in cooler weather.

The "Summer of Speed" continues for many Roadkillers, at the May 30 Lake Mary 5K.
